Survive?? Think THRIVE!

APA|NY is pleased to announce Selina Maitreya is exclusively launching her new program, Survive?? Think THRIVE! on Thursday, June 18, 6:30-9 p.m. at Eagles Nest Daylight Studio. (Selina will also do a small Assistants Group Consultation and Invididual consultations, scroll down for further information.) Maitreya is the owner and founder of Port Authority and author of Portfolios That Sell and How To Succeed In Commercial Photography: Insights from a Leading Consultant (Allworth Press September 2007).

Maitreya is convinced that photographers need to focus their efforts on building businesses that will THRIVE, not merely survive. Her current program, Survive?? Think THRIVE! uses real life examples that illustrate the steps photographers are now taking to move from survival mode to prosperity. The presentation will be followed by an extensive Q&A session.

Photographers Will Learn:

• The TRUE difference between surviving and thriving in today’s business market
• The steps other photographers are taking to ensure that their business will thrive!
• What constitutes a competitive product to today’s assignment photo buyers?
• How to match their vision to different industries
• How to bring sales back into the marketing equation
• How to successfully utilize traditional (direct mail, email, web portals, blogs) and online (Flickr, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) social networking marketing tools
• How to determine whether an agent or a marketing assistant is the right team player for them and how to find them.

* Copies of How To Succeed In Commercial Photography: Insights from a Leading Consultant will be on sale and Selina will happily sign her name and scribble a note.

WHAT CLIENTS ARE SAYING

“Selina has a graceful way of cutting through the distractions and defining the heart of the issue. Her intuition about what art-buyers want in a portfolio viewing is invaluable for an emerging photographer. Not to mention her warm, nurturing personality creates an environment within a consultation that allows for profound self-awareness and real exploration, always with an eye toward the pragmatic application of one’s vision.”
Tait Simpson
NYC

“Working with Selina has changed the way I approach my work, the perspective of how others see me and how I see myself. Others may think it extravagant, to work with a consultant, but to me it is necessary. It’s going for your Ph.D in photography and business with a private tutor: learning the nuance of portfolio development, marketing, follow up, and most importantly, a lesson taken right out of advertising agencies, creating a strong brand and image. Without it I’m just another photographer on the bottom shelf of the supermarket aisle hoping someone will notice me.”
