APA-NY’s Pro Assistant Academy Training Intensive

Sat 27th Apr, 2024 – 9:30am–4:30pm

Posted by APA New York

NEW IN-PERSON EVENT: This event, geared toward students and early-career photographers, has been in the planning stages for quite a while and we are excited to bring it to the community! Our mission is to train you to assist pro photographers so you can get assisting gigs and thrive doing them as you build your photography career.

This one-day intensive combines practical advice and presentations with hands-on training and will run from 9:30am to 4:30pm at Bathhouse Studios in Manhattan. We are keeping the group small - there are just 32 spots available - so that all attendees get the most out of it.

Speakers include: Howard Schatz, Russ Heller, Theresa Rafetto, Daniel Norton, and Cliff Hausner, to name a few.

The topics we will cover include: Studio protocols, understanding terms, lighting, grip, tethering, safety, equipment set up and break down, questions to ask, networking, how to promote yourself to get hired, (and rehired), how assistants can help make a photo job better, and so much more! And after the event, we will send a contact list of our 32 newly minted assistants to all our APA Pro Members to get you started promoting yourself. And, for attending, you receive a free one-year membership in APA!

Cost: $75

Advance Registration required.

(A light breakfast, and a pizza lunch are included)

BIG THANKS to our partners in bringing the APA-NY Pro Assistant Academy to you: Bathhouse Studios, Adorama, Profoto, Capture One, CSI Rentals, Fujifilm, Kelby One. . . more to come!
