Turn a Personal Project Into a Published Book & Finance it With Kickstarter: A Talk With Beth Galton

Mon 28th Oct, 2024 – 7:00pm–9:00pm

Posted by APA New York

When the Covid pandemic hit Manhattan, Beth invented a kind of meditative, almost spiritual practice of taking photographs to get through the many months of lockdown. This process produced a body of work that has become Covid Diary.

In this presentatiion, Beth will discuss how these images were created, how an artist book evolved, and how she searched for and found a publisher; connecting with the publisher, Fall Line Press, and how the process of turning her images into a photo book began.

Much work went into the development, design, fundraising and marketing of the book, long before any ink was put on paper. Tune in to Beth's presentation to learn about how you can turn your personal project into a photo book and the many stages of the process — including how to develop and run a Kickstarter campaign to fund it (which involves many decisions all on its own!)

Beth’s talk just might inspire you to take that file of images you’ve created and aren't sure what to do with, and turn it into a beautiful, meaningful book!

•This virtual event will be held on Zoom. Registrants will be sent the Aoom link before the event.

FYI: Beth’s Kickstarter campaign for her book, Covid Diary, just went live on October 15. Check it out here on the Kickstarter website, and keep checking back to follow along to watch how a successful campaign is run!
